At the end of January the last health check had seven injured players and one dealing with covid protocol. Today’s update has news on five of those guys who would still have been listed as dealing with an injury and adds two more to the list from injuries sustained in the last few games/days.
David Gustafsson:
He actually came off LTIR today and was reassigned to the Moose. This is good news for him as he will be able to get his skating legs back after playing a grand total of 4:56 (combined) in two games since December 17th with the Jets.
CJ Suess & Dylan Samberg:
Interim coach Dave Lowry provided a combined update on these two:
“Both of them are on the ice. Sammy, he’ll skate again in the morning with our injured guys. He’s limited in what he can do. Suess’r is now starting to get more active and he will be close to joining the main group.”
Nikolaj Ehlers:
He was injured back on January 18th against the Capitals and placed on LTIR on the 22nd of January. He was eligible to come off LTIR on the 14th of February but the tone of interim head coach Dave Lowry’s comments back on February 8th made that seem unlikely. Today he said this about Ehlers:
“He’s not going to join the group here. He’s skating every other day right now. So he’s not ready to, or near close enough to ramp up to be part of this group.”
Nathan Beaulieu:
No update today but he was in a yellow, non-contact jersey as of the February 14th Jets practice.
Andrew Copp:
He missed the game yesterday after taking a blindside hit on Wednesday against the Wild
“Copper is upper-body, day-to-day”.
Cole Perfetti:
He took a big hit along the boards by Jamie Oleksiak last night in the game against the Kraken.
“Cole is also upper-body and he’ll be maybe a little longer than day-to-day.”
