Jets RFA Kyle Connor spoke to the media today ahead of teeing off in The Players Cup at Southwood Golf & Country Club. Connor was asked by Sara Orlesky of TSN about his contract status.
Q: Are you optimistic that you will have a contract signed before the start of training camp?
A: “Yeah that’s definitely the plan. You know the player never wants to miss time in training camp. You know its tough always coming in not getting that preparation and time with teammates in practice. That’s definitely a goal for sure.”
Q: Would you come back to Winnipeg before a deal was signed or would you stay in Michigan? Have you thought that far ahead?
A: “No I haven’t so once that happens I’m sure I’ll have a decision.”
Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press added this:
#NHLJets Kyle Connor on still being without a contract in mid-August: “I don’t think it’s anything to press the panic button on. It’s kind of how these things go.” Admitted he’d prefer long-term deal over short-term bridge. #wfp
