Winnipeg Jets Practice Report

Before the team heads to Montreal they have an optional practice in Winnipeg.

The Jets sit atop the NHL alongside the Capitals with 71 points after they picked up their third straight victory last night defeating the Flames 5-2 to conclude their two-game homestand. Now they get set to depart for three games on the road which begins with a date against Patrik Laine and his Canadiens in Montreal on Tuesday.

We learned last night that the team is bringing captain Adam Lowry on the trip as a “friendly face” but they do not anticipate he will be a player before 4 Nations which means they’ll likely make a recall before they head to Quebec. The easy money is on Brad Lambert especially if they decide they want a centre up but Parker Ford has seven goals in his last nine games and probably deserves a recall.

It’s an optional practice today.

Recall news:

As expected it was Brad Lambert who was recalled.

Skate news:

Bit of Suomi power on the ice for the Jets as recently recalled Brad Lambert passed the puck to countryman Ville Heinola.

Colin MillerEric Comrie and Connor Hellebuyck are honourary Finns today at the optional.

Also taking part were goalie coach Wade Flaherty and assistant coach Marty Johnston.
