Note: The Jets held a very optional practice although one of the players skating was Jets prospect Brad Lambert who had been recalled from their AHL affiliate earlier that day. One player who is on the trip but only as a passenger not as a player will be captain Adam Lowry who remains out week to week. Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM CST so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Montreal, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.
Note III: The Moose practiced on Monday and today they will fly to Chicago where they will begin three games on the road starting with a contest against the Wolves on Wednesday night. The only question mark for them is the health of Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson (2022 2nd) who has been practicing with the team but wearing a yellow, non-contact sweater (although I didn’t see how he skated yesterday).
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: One floor down: Vilardi in second with 11 power-play goals. The power play has been absolutely ridiculous and number 13 has been a huge part of that success.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ eastern swing includes showdown with league-leading Capitals. (Paywall). Lots of fun storylines including facing off against Patrik Laine, re-match with a Boston team the Jets destroyed 8-1 although Trent Frederic did demolish David Gustafsson and then a potential battle of 1st place in the West vs the East.
The Athletic Winnipeg: What I’m seeing from the Jets: How Perfetti wins battles, Kupari’s impact, avoiding a slump. (Paywall). Murat gives you his observations of the local NHL club and how they are avoiding the slump that sent them on a tailspin last season.
Global News: Winnipeg Jets respond to roller-coaster NHL season. It is funny how quickly a narrative can change. One bad loss and suddenly everyone is throwing in the towel. Three straight wins later and folks are planning the parade route.
Sportsnet: Jets should ink impressive Samberg to long-term deal. We’ve been saying this for some time now. He may be most important signing given the lack of depth on the left side to fill that spot behind Josh Morrissey.
Jets video:
TSN: Perfetti’s physicality turning heads in Winnipeg. Cole Perfetti addressed his 14-game goal drought last week by admitting he’s working on being ‘kind of a little prick to play against’. He followed that up by recording his first career hat trick against Utah. John Lu has more on Perfetti’s push to be more physical.
TSN: Payne points to play off of puck for Winnipeg’s power play success. The Jets sit atop the NHL with a sparkling 33.3 power-play percentage, up from 24.1 from last season. Much of the success can be attributed to pp coach Davis Payne, who joined the club in the summer, who believes in staying with the process and working off of the puck.
