After kicking off their three game home stand with a 4-3 win over the Blue Jackets last night the Jets return to the ice for a practice as they get set to face a Ducks team that are just 2-6-2 in their last ten games.  This will be their first game in 10 days as they try to right the ship and get back above the playoff line (surprisingly they are just one point back).

Practice Notes:

Jets cancelled the skating portion of practice.

Audio:

Mason Appleton

Brandon Tanev

Coach Maurice:  On the Jets 2015 draft class.  On how Appleton handled taking the penalty.  How unique of a player is Brandon Tanev?  More on Appleton’s development.  What’s the goalie plan for tomorrow?  Power play entries.  What did he see from the returns in the new entry?  On the Jets PK stopping the entry.  Does he count zone time?  Byfuglien/Ehlers health updates.

Health News:

During his availability coach Maurice was asked for an update on Dustin Byfuglien and Nikolaj Ehlers “Both skated this morning.  Buff was pretty happy when he got off the ice.  Nikky still hasn’t hit his time window yet.  So if Buff comes back tomorrow, feels good, he’ll get another skate.  The next phase for him is a gold jersey in practice and that may take place before the San Jose game.  He’s now in that window if he can prove to the doctors he’s strong enough and he’s moving well enough in practice then he may be one of those guys who gets to bypass the gold.  It’s not really a contact issue with him.”
