Note: The Jets practiced on Friday as they looked to reset ahead of a monumental test against the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes this afternoon. We learned that Vlad Namestnikov is now considered week-to-week after suffering an injury during Thursday’s morning skate in Chicago. With a 2:30 PM CT puck drop, Winnipeg will not hold a morning skate today, so be sure to check our pre-game report for all the latest updates ahead of the game.
Note II: Once the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Carolina this afternoon, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show. Join us starting around 5:10 PM CT as we break down and analyze the game.
Note III: The Moose didn’t exactly get loose to start last night’s game against the Stars, but one thing we’ve learned about this Manitoba club early in the season is that they can win with a lead or battle back from a deficit. After falling behind 2-0 through 20 minutes, the Moose scored three goals in the 2nd period and four more in the 3rd to defeat Texas 7-4 and improve to 4-1-0 on the season. It was an impressive performance from top to bottom. They’ll practice today at 11:30 AM CT at hockey for all centre as they prepare for tomorrow’s rematch with the Stars.
Note IV: For the first time in 16 years, there won’t be an Illegal Curve Hockey Show at 9 AM CT to wake up with on a Saturday. However, with our new daily show airing Monday to Friday at 3 PM CT and the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show following every Jets game, you certainly won’t be lacking our company. Be sure you’ve hit the subscribe button so you don’t miss a thing.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: ‘Better be ready to go’: Jets get crack at defending champs. This Hurricanes team, despite the injuries, are still one of the most dangerous in the NHL so the Jets cannot afford to be casual in their approach this afternoon.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets look to beat defending Stanley Cup champ after studying Hurricanes’ moves. (Paywall). It’s a copycat league but even if you don’t have the players to copy a team like Carolina, it pays to study them so you can try and gameplan a way to stop them.
