Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | May 4, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Moose and Griffins played another good hockey game on Sunday in Winnipeg but this time it was Grand Rapids which secured the 2-0 shutout victory over Manitoba to even their best of five, second round series at 1-1. Things shift to Michigan for the next three (if necessary) games. The team will be off today.

Note II: After cruising through the first couple of rounds of the OHL playoffs (8-0), Jets prospect Edison Engle (2025 6th) and his Brantford Bulldogs are in tough in the Conference Championship against Barrie with the series needing a Game 7. They’ll play this evening for a chance to advance to the OHL Championship and do battle for the J. Ross Robertson Cup.

Note III: Tomorrow is the NHL Draft Lottery and folks in Winnipeg will be paying attention as the Jets, who currently have the 7th overall selection will be looking to jump into the 1st or 2nd spot. We will have more on the current percentages this morning.

Jets/Moose news:

Winnipeg Sun: Moose shut out this time, series even. After playing each other eight times in the regular season and already two more in the playoffs, there was certainly no love lost between these two hockey teams.
