Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Mar 12, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets will hit the ice as they look to rebound from a bad game on Tuesday, this evening as they get set to face the Rangers. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 10:30 AM CT so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and New York, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 9:40 PM CT.

Note III: The Moose concluded their two game set in Abbotsford with a 4-1 loss which sounds worse than it was. The opening goal of the game, which ended Thomas Milic shutout streak at 134 minutes, could be argued should have been called back. But that alone didn’t cost Manitoba the game. They even had a great chance to tie it but a nice save kept them in a deficit. Today, they head to Calgary where they will keep the road trip going against the Wranglers.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: No time to wallow, as Jets hit reset button. The Jets will have to flush the disappointment and move on to tonight’s opponent. Not like the Rangers are planning on handing them an easy two points. Ultimately this team, due to their play early in the season, put themselves into this position and only they can get themselves out of it.

Winnipeg Sun: ‘It’s embarrassing’: Jets heard mock cheers loud and clear. The message delivered by the fanbase was clear as day.

Winnipeg Free Press: Out-of-town scoreboard keeps Jets’ push for wild-card berth alive. (Paywall). While it is all well and good to take note of that from a glass half full perspective the reality is this team needed to be three not five points back heading into tonight’s game and they are not. Accordingly, the playoffs odds similarly decreased.

Winnipeg Free Press: ‘Give them a much better performance to cheer about’. (Paywall). Players acknowledged on Wednesday that the game on Tuesday wasn’t a particularly enjoyable one for fans who pay good money to see better hockey than what they were “treated” to.

Global News: Josh Morrissey making his mark as a Jets franchise favourite. The Calgary product has embraced living in Winnipeg and fans have embraced him accordingly.
