Note II: In addition to the above, today is the opening of Free Agency in the NHL which gets underway at 11 AM CDT. It’s always a “busy” day (not) in Winnipeg but if anything happens we’ll keep you posted.

Winnipeg Free Press: ‘Can’t wait to get going’: Childhood duo of He, Walton raring for Moose season. (Paywall). The two faced each other in the OHL for years but now will get a chance to take the next step together.
Winnipeg Sun: Alfons Freij ready to make mark. The second rounder from 2024 is one of the biggest personalities at camp. He’s got quite the personality off the ice but will be looking to showcase what he can do on the ice.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets stuck on Hellebuyck as free agency looms. The awkward part is what the hell is gonna happen with Eric Comrie. If Hellebuyck is gonna stay then I’d expect so would Comrie.

TSN: Winnipeg is willing to continue to be patient. Hockey Insider Darren Dreger indicated that teams are still kicking tires on Connor Hellebuyck following the NHL Draft. Said the interest in 37 is still out there but not as aggressive as GM Kevin Cheveldayoff would like.
