Note: A very happy birthday to IC’s Ezzy. For his birthday, why not follow him on Twitter.
Winnipeg Free Press: A successful takeoff by new Jets logo. Kives is absolutely correct. Who cares what people outside of this city think about the new logo. While sales of Jets merchandise is an important revenue stream for True North, it appears that people in Winnipeg will take care of buying all available Jets merchandise in the near future.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ merch flies off shelves. Further to my point above, the Jets sold nearly $200,000.00 worth of merchandise in 2 days of limited sales with the only products available being hats and t-shirts.
Winnipeg Sun: Fehr touts logo choice. Has to be very cool for Eric Fehr to be able to realize a childhood dream of playing for the team he grew up supporting. Ezzy and Remis both attended the media scrum with Fehr and here is the audio (as well as transcribed quotes).
Toronto Sun: Jets merch flying off the shelves. Fans seem to be reacting positively to the new logo. Whether that’s because they actually like it or were desperate to see something new from the Jets 2.0 we will never know. Bottom line they’ve made the merchandise go “all gone”.
North Shore News: Ben Mawell ready to be a Jet. Right now the IC crew has Maxwell slotted as the 6th center for the team.
More Jets news including donating to military charities, a breakdown of the logo by our friends at Arctic Ice hockey and from ‘Around the NHL’ a debate about Osgood going to the Hall of Fame and finally the Jackets are the talk of the Central as they fill their roster after the jump.
Winnipeg Free Press: New Jets logo a boost to military. Very cool that True North agreed to donate money to military charities.
Arctic Ice: Jets logo unleashed. A nice breakdown of the new Jets logo.
Around the NHL:
New York Post: Red Wings goalie does not deserve Hall honor. Brooks makes a fair point on why Ozzie should be excluded.
Vernon Morning Star: Osgood net numbers rate shrine call. In a counter to the Brooks article above, his former GM Ken Holland as well as other NHL players extol his virtues and explain why he could be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Columbus Dispatch: Versatile Prospal fills need for Jackets. I’m extremely interested in seeing how the Jackets perform next season.
