Note: Reminder that if any Stanley Cup Playoff games go to overtime, we will be having our #ICOTpool contest. Similar to the #ICGWG contest in that you pick one player (total) from either team and @ tweet us (@illegalcurve) with your selection as well as the hashtag #ICOTpool. Winner gets IC Gear.
Note II: Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will be giving his end of season media press conference today and stay tuned as we will bring you everything from the MTS Centre.
Winnipeg Free Press: It’s all about team for Scheifele. While he knows the eyes of Jets brass and fans are focused on him, he has to keep his eyes on the present and that is helping the Barrie Colts win the OHL Championship. He sits first overall in playoff scoring and could end his junior career with a chance at a Memorial Cup.
Stanley Cup Playoff news:
Scores: Blackhawks 2 Wild 1 in OT | Blues 2 Kings 1 in OT | Ducks 3 Red Wings 1
Games: Leafs @ Bruins | Islanders @ Penguins | Sharks @ Canucks
Chicago Sun-Times: Bryan Bickell’s overtime goal gives Blackhawks 1-0 series lead vs. Wild.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Steen steals Game 1 for Blues.
TSN: Selanne’s third-period goal puts Ducks past Red Wings.
Globe and Mail: A nation’s eyes turn to quartet of Canadian teams to fill 20-year Stanley Cup void. Seems unreal that it has been that long since a Canadian team has raised a Stanley Cup but you have to go back to the 1993 playoff series when the Habs beat Gretzky and his L.A. Kings. There have been five Canadian teams in the Finals during this drought but none were able to achieve the ultimate goal.
The Tennessean: Predators, Patric Hornqvist agree to five-year, $21.25M extension. And so it begins as teams on the outside of the playoffs start getting their business done. Good extension by the Preds as they show players that guys will stay in Nashville.
Edmonton Journal: Why video analysis is crucial to analyzing pro hockey. A very long but interesting read on the value of video in the NHL.
