Jets news: Meech scores winner: CBA news: Two sides meet for lunch, little progress made. NHL News: Remembering this year’s Hall of Fame inductees.

CBA news:

The Canadian Press: Dealing with shortened season new issue in NHL CBA talks. More unresolved issues can only make this lockout go longer.

USA Today: NHL lockout in holding pattern after informal lunch meeting. What wasn’t reported was what the two sides had for lunch. What was it?  and Did they split the bill 50/50?

USA Today: NHL must negotiate with Fehr, not attack him. Everyone has a take on how this could get done more quickly. Maybe it’s time both sides start listening.

CBC: The final hurdles in NHL talks. Elliotte Friedman suggests that Bill Daly and Steve Fehr had “hot & juicy combos”, although he doesn’t cite any sources.

Star Tribune: NHL’s owners, players must put anger aside and get back to the table. But will fans be able to put their anger aside and come back once this lockout is over. History has shown that is probably the case.

The Globe & Mail:  Class of 2012: Sundin put team above everything else. Signs you are getting old: all of the NHL players you grew up watching are now getting inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The Toronto Star: Mats Sundin’s backhand deserves showcase of its own in the Hall of Fame. Nothing prettier than a nice backhand.

The Province: Joe Sakic: A consummate professional who always let his play do the talking. Sakic was a role model for players and fans.

The Boston Globe: On way to Hall, Adam Oates scored big with mates. An easy to to get teammates to like you is to pass them the puck. Of Oates’ 1,420 points, 1,079 of them were assists.

SI.com Hockey Hall of Fame: Who deserves to get the call?  Brian  Cazeneuve looks at some names who may be inducted in the near future.
