Breaking News: It was reported this morning and confirmed by the team that the  Jets will be signing NHL free agent Jonathan Toews. The deal will officially be registered with the league on July 1st.

Note: The Stanley Cup has been presented and we are just seven days away from the NHL Draft which will take place in Los Angeles but will be decentralized as teams stay home to make their selections. The Jets have the 28th overall selection and we spoke with TSN’s Craig Button on the IC Hockey Show about a number of names they could be calling on the Friday in late June.

Note II: On Monday we learned that Jets prospect Markus Loponen was leaving Victoria (WHL) to head back to his native Finland to play for HPK in Liiga on a two-year deal.

Note III: The Jets second round opponent made a move on Thursday as Dallas signed Matt Duchene to a four-year deal which left them with about 50K in salary cap. They thereafter dealt Mason Marchment to the Kraken for picks which gave them some more space.
