Note: The Jets skated on Monday as they got their skating legs back with a practice and turned their focus to facing a very good Hurricanes this team as they get set to close out the pre 4 Nations portion of the schedule. Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM CST so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Carolina, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 9:40 PM CST.

Note III: The Moose are on their AHL All-Star break. Speaking of which Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson scored twice last night at the All-Star Challenge including one goal which tied the Final game of the night which his Central Division group eventually won in a shootout.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: One goal away: Scheifele can set a record on Tuesday night vs. the ‘Canes. While the league might care and I am sure fans inside CLC would give him a nice round of applause if he gets it done tonight, the truth in this city is that for Mark Scheifele to become the All-Time franchise goals leader he needs to score 52 more goals. That  would give him 380 in his career and thus one more than his idol Dale Hawerchuk (379).

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets welcome upcoming extended break. While there will clearly be some rust when these resume play late in February there will be a huge benefit to the vast majority of players who will get a chance to really heal up.

Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele on the verge of Jets history. (Paywall). See my comment on the Sun article as it applies here.

The Athletic: What boxes do the Jets need to check at the trade deadline? Catching up with Kevin Cheveldayoff. (Paywall). Without reading the article I guessed 2C and a top 4 Dman. Then I read it and no surprise the above was basically contained within. If you don’t have a subscription do not fret as you aren’t missing anything.

Global News: Can regular-season wins translate to playoff success for Jets? That’s the big question which we won’t know the answer to until sometime in April.

Jets audio:
