Note: The Jets hit the ice for practice on Saturday afternoon as they prepared to close out this quick two-game homestand which concludes this evening against the Flames. They did return prospect Brad Lambert to the AHL so he could play for them on Saturday afternoon which left them with 12 forwards so we will likely see a recall today or tomorrow before they head out on the road. Josh Morrissey didn’t participate yesterday as he is under the weather so we shall have to wait and see if he’s good to play tonight although if he isn’t that wouldn’t necessitate a recall since Winnipeg has two extra D men. No morning skate but stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 5 PM CST.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Calgary, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 7:40 PM CST.
Note III: The Moose played probably their best complete home game of 2025 but a late power play goal by the Griffins gave them a 2-1 lead which is how the game ended which meant Manitoba got swept by Grand Rapids in this two-game set. When you couple that with the sweep at the hands of Toronto last weekend and it hasn’t been a banner start to the new year in their home building where they are a combined 0-4-0. The good news is they head out on the road where they went 4-0-1 to start 2025 and they’ll look to recapture that mojo when they leave on Tuesday for Chicago.

Winnipeg Free Press: Teammates happy Gustafsson’s hard work pays off with first goal of the season. (Paywall). Not a surprise that his teammates were happy the well liked Swede finally found the back of the net. The way he’s been playing lately it seemed inevitable he was going to find the back of the net sooner rather than later.
