Note: Nobody is planning a parade after the Jets picked up their second straight win against a bottom feeder as they disposed of the Blue Jackets rather easily by a final score of 6-1 last night in Columbus to kick off their five-game road trip. But at the same time, similar to their 6-0 win on Friday night against the Ducks, they did exactly what they should against a lesser opponent as they picked up their 43rd win of the season in their 67th game which is well ahead of previous versions of this team. The schedule for the week wasn’t out yet but they will next be in New York as they play the Rangers on Tuesday. If they practice today stay tuned for the Practice Report.
Note II: The Moose returned to Manitoba on Sunday after completing the weekend sweep of the Wolves in Chicago which concluded a very good road trip (5-1-0) for the AHL club of Manitoba who left Illinois with a six point cushion on the fifth and final playoff spot in the Central. And if you were scoreboard watching on Sunday they got some help courtesy of an Iowa goal with 14 seconds left in regulation to hand the Wolves their third straight loss. Moose will practice today as they prepare for their school day game tomorrow which kicks off six straight at home. Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Tyler Toffoli pots another pair as Jets crush Columbus. Winnipeg Free Press: Jets cruise past Jackets 6-1 in a St. Paddy’s pulverizing. (Paywall). Mike, when he was done jumping out of his seat from the Cannon going off, wrote his game recap as he witnessed things from inside Nationwide Arena last night.
Winnipeg Free Press: Blue Jackets‘ Patrik Laine in players assistance, still feeling the love from former teammates. (Paywall). Mike had a chat with Nikolaj Ehlers about his close friend and a player folks in Winnipeg still wistfully talk about with many still wishing he was scoring goals ferociously on the power play in a Jets jersey.
