Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets were off on Tuesday following their 41st win of the season on Monday night when they defeated the Capitals 3-0. It was the 36th shutout of Connor Hellebuyck‘s career which I realized the next day was quite the milestone in this city. Today the focus is on the red-hot Predators who have been on an absolute tear since Feb 17th (10-1-1). Morning skate for the Jets gets underway at 9:30 AM CDT. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM CDT.

Note II:  This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Nashville, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.

Note III: The Moose practiced in Milwaukee on Tuesday as they got set for a big tilt this morning against the Admirals. After winning 19 straight games the Ads have hit a bit of a skid (perhaps tied to the fact their parent club Nashville are rolling) and even that skid still has them 5-5-0 in their last 10. Manitoba began this six-game road trip with a victory in Milwaukee before they split a two-game set in Iowa and they will go for another victory as they look to hold onto the 5th and final playoff spot when puck drops at 10:30 AM CDT for their school day game in Wisconsin.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Eyes on the playoffs: Jets’ needle pointing up. The stretch drive is an opportunity to gain chemistry, fine tune one’s game and more as Winnipeg looks to build on their last few games (Seattle & Washington).

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Bowness justified in berating his team on Saturday. Given what we saw on Friday it was hard to explain the effort on Saturday but the team bounced back on Monday so don’t think anyone was thinking the disappointment from the coach wasn’t appropriate.

Daily Faceoff: Jets are going to be a huge problem for other Stanley Cup contenders. Part of a segment on the show featuring a chat between Tyler Yaremchuk and Colby Cohen which has been transcribed.

Winnipeg Free Press: Bryan Little making big contribution to Jets current success. (Paywall). Seems appropriate that a guy who had so many assists in his career gave one final helper to the organization.

Jets video:

TSN: How did Toffoli look with Monahan and Iafallo on Jets second line? How did Tyler Toffoli look with Sean Monahan and Alex Iafallo? Are the Jets the best positioned team to win the Central Division? TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.

680 CJOB: Jets @ Noon. On yesterday’s show Jim Toth and Cam Poitras welcomed newest Jets Tyler Toffoli to the program for the first time. Runs about 10 minutes.
