Note: It was quite the weekend for the Jets as they had a big 3rd period comeback in Carolina on Saturday to defeat the Hurricanes 5-3 and then that theme continued on Sunday as they went into Buffalo and did the same to the Sabres in the 3rd period scoring four times to take it 5-2. It turned what could have been a bad road trip into a 2-1-0 effort which leapfrogged them ahead of the Stars into top spot in the Central and with their 39th win this club is well ahead of any other Jets 2.0 teams at this point in the season. About the only bad news for the club was that Gabriel Vilardi returned to Manitoba on Saturday to be evaluated further as he deals with an upper-body injury. They are off today so we should get an update on Tuesday when they welcome the Kraken to town which is the start of a home-and-home set with Seattle.
Note II: It wasn’t just the parent club having all the good vibes to themselves this past weekend. The AHL club of Manitoba needed to pick up some points and that’s just what they did against a very good Texas team who coming into the province on Friday sat 17 points up on Manitoba. While the Moose aren’t chasing the Stars for their post-season spot they did whittle down that deficit by picking up a big 7-3 win on Saturday afternoon and then followed that up with an even bigger 6-2 victory on Sunday to give themselves the sweep. They too are off today before heading out on the road on Tuesday as they get set to kick off six straight on the road against divisional opponents.
