Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets were off on Super Bowl Sunday for some rest and relaxation following their 2-1 win over the Penguins on Saturday night. They did make some news putting Dominic Toninato on waivers so we will have to wait and see (1 PM CST) if he clears and will be sent to Manitoba. Conventional thought is they are doing that to take David Gustafsson off IR. Also possible they take Gustafsson off IR and then assign him to the Moose on a conditioning assignment which would allow them to recall Ville Heinola although they’ve already gone two of three games of Brenden Dillon‘s suspension without a seventh defenceman on the active roster. Today they are set to practice as they prepare to face the Sharks on Wednesday night. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose were traveling on Sunday after a big 4-3 shootout win over the Griffins on Saturday night in Grand Rapids. They flew west to Calgary where they will prepare for their game tomorrow night against the Wranglers which will be their eighth straight game on the road. As indicated above they could be getting a boost with the return of Dominic Toninato (if he clears waivers) who has played nine games for Manitoba this season with two goals and four assists. (Update: He cleared and was assigned to the Moose).
