Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets didn’t get off to a great start on Tuesday night but they did what they’ve done plenty of of late which is find a way to win as they matched a franchise record with the 4-2 victory over the Lightning last night which was the ninth straight time they’ve secured at least a point in a game. It was also the 26th straight time (an NHL record) that they didn’t give up more than three goals, which is a streak that dates back all the way to November 2nd (two months ago).

Note II: It is not often the player media availability following a morning skate is more interesting that some facts you may glean from the team’s head coach but on Tuesday the Jets and Cole Perfetti changed that narrative as he Perfetti spoke about comments Ryan Hartman made to him on the ice after the high-stick on 91 n the 1st period of Sunday’s game.

Note III: Health updates from head coach Rick Bowness on David GustafssonVille Heinola and Rasmus Kupari here.

Note IV: The Moose practiced on Tuesday and will again hit the ice today again at 10:30 AM CST to continue to prepare to face the Senators.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets almost unbeatable these days with uncanny streak. It sounds absurd. Two months (26 games) without giving up more than three goals. That is unbelievable. And despite losing their top scorer for 6-8 weeks they continue to produce offensively by committee.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets win third straight after stifling Lightning 4-2. Scotty gives you his insight into the contest last evening.

Winnipeg Sun: Caught on Tape – Wild’s Ryan Hartman admitted to Jets’ Cole Perfetti that high stick was on purpose. Cue the music from Law and Order as the case against Ryan Hartman is fairly airtight. Only issue is that the audio cannot be used against Hartman for disciplinary purposes as per Jeff Marek of Sportsnet.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets complete season sweep of Lightning with 4-2 win. (Paywall). This game wasn’t as close as the one that they did in Tampa back in November as you could argue the Jets are a better team now than they were then. As well Tampa are just a .500 hockey team in their last ten games and have given up the fifth most goals against.

Winnipeg Free Press: Hartman’s admission of guilt caught on tape. (Paywall). Pretty interesting morning down at Canada Life Centre today as Cole Perfetti provided some interesting background from the incident on Sunday.

Global News: Jets start 2024 with 4-2 win over Tampa Bay. Christian gives you his thoughts on the game.

Tampa Bay Tribune: Short-handed Lightning open road trip with loss in Winnipeg. Check out what a writer who covers the Jets opponent had to say about the game.

Sportsnet: Canadian teams tie NHL record with six wins on one night. I did not know that. That needs a ‘more you know’ style sticker beside the headline.
