Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets were hoping to carry forward the efforts they had against the Kings and Avalanche but a slow start, some anemic special teams and some controversial penalties saw them fall 3-2 in overtime to the visiting Habs. The team still remains just one point back of top spot in the Central and has a good record against the East (7-0-3) which is good news considering there next two opponents before the holiday break are Detroit and Boston. They will hit the ice for practice today at 12 noon so check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose left Winnipeg early on Monday as they practiced in the afternoon in Chicago to get set for their second school day game and first one of the season on the road. Puck drop between Manitoba and Chicago gets underway at 11 AM CST.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets salvage single point in 3-2 OT loss to Habs. (Paywall). Mike provides you with his thoughts on the game.

Winnipeg Free Press: Neal Pionk always trying to improve. (Paywall). When you’re undrafted you’re constantly having to prove yourself and even when you’ve made it I suspect that mindset continues for the Minnesotan.

Global News: Canadiens begin road trip with 3-2 overtime win in Winnipeg. Read about the game from the perspective of a writer who covers the Jets opponent.

Global News: Jets are faring well after trades. It was remarkable the other night when the first five goals scored against the Avs were all by guys who had joined the team within the last year.

Jets prospect news:

Winnipeg Sun: From hospital bed to World Juniors: Jets prospect McGroarty raring to go. You could sense the excitement of the Jets prospect as he’ll be heading to Sweden to challenge for gold.
