Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets skated on Wednesday working on skills in divided groups. The big news of the day was that forward Rasmus Kupari is expected to miss the next 4-7 weeks with a shoulder injury. If you read yesterday’s Moose Practice Report you knew that our expectation was that the Jets would recall Axel Jonsson-Fjällby and that’s just who was called up yesterday afternoon. Today the Jets resume normal practice at 11 AM CST as they begin to focus on the Sabres who they will face tomorrow. Be sure to check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose were back on the ice on Wednesday as they had one day of practice in Winnipeg before they took off for six games out east starting tomorrow in Belleville. As today is a travel day there is no media availability.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ neck guard early adopters getting used to added attire. The consistent comment I’ve heard is that it adds a degree of warmth but given the potential benefits that seems to be outweighed.

Winnipeg Free Press: Smart, skilled, speedy and dangerous. (Paywall). We are running out of superlatives to talk about the Jets winger and his overall game. This season has been simply spectacular and it’s just 15 games in.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets happy to brighten children’s day. (Paywall). There were plenty of thoughtful response from Winnipeg captain Adam Lowry on what the hospital visits means to their club. This is just part of what the well spoken Albertan had to say “…you hope that you were able to leave a lasting impression on them, a positive memory that maybe they can hang onto while they’re battling.”

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Jets’ Connor is definitely a ’50-goal scorer in waiting,’ especially when playing with Scheifele. Jets analyst Sean Reynolds joins the Jeff Marek Show to make the case for Kyle Connor to score 50 this season, especially while playing with Mark Scheifele, who together are forming one of most the elite dynamic duos in the league.

TSN: Frank Corrado breaks down a Winnipeg Jets cycle. The Jets have been getting it done this season with the added depth to their roster. TSN analyst and former NHLerFrank Corrado broke down the play which led to the opening goal of the game last night by Kyle Connor for Winnipeg on the Devils.

Global News: Segment on the Jets with John Shannon. What has led to Kyle Connor’s incredible start? Where should the Jets put Gabriel Vilardi when he returns? Should the Jets re-sign pending UFA defencemen Brenden Dillon, Dylan DeMelo, or both? 680 CJOB hockey analyst John Shannon has the latest on the Jets.
