Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets, Moose & Ice news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets are in offseason mode but is there really ever an offseason? If there is any news we will have it for you here.

Note II: The Moose are also now in offseason mode. We concluded the season on Thursday with an End of Season Roundtable. We’ve also complied all the links to the end of season media availabilities here.

Note III: Jets 2022 1st rounder Brad Lambert is a WHL Champion as he and his Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Winnipeg Ice in game 5 and won the series 4 games to 1 to win the Ed Chynoweth Cup. Lambert finished the playoffs with 6G 20A for 26 points in 17 games.

Note IV: No smiles for the Winnipeg Ice after suffering defeat in the WHL Championship last night but they had a significant 2022-23 season. They finished with best regular season record in the WHL of 57-10-1-0. They also had two series sweeps during the playoffs.

Note V: Join us this morning at 9 AM CDT on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show for two hours Jets, Moose and Ice talk today. We will be joined by Ted Wyman of the Winnipeg Sun and George Richards of Florida Hockey Now.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets roster decisions: Who stays and who goes this offseason? (Paywall). Murat does his best to figure out who will stay, who will go and whose future will remain up in the air.

The Hockey News: Brad Lambert’s regained his fire in the WHL. Really good read here from Jacob on the blossoming if the Jets 2022 first rounder.

Ice news:

Seattle Times: Thunderbirds capture Western Hockey League championship. Check out the game recap from a writer that covers the Ice opponent.

Winnipeg Free Press: Ice eliminated from WHL playoffs following 4-1 defeat to the Thunderbirds. (Paywall). As I wrote about above, it is hard to look for the positives but there were signs.

TSN: Milic ‘the X-factor’ as the Thunderbirds claim the WHL Championship. He was excellent during the playoffs.
