Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets, Moose & Ice news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets are in offseason mode but is there really ever an offseason? If there is any news we will have it for you here.

Note II: The Moose are also now in offseason mode. We concluded the season yesterday with the End of Season Roundtable.

Note III: The Thunderbirds won game 4 and they now have a 3-1 series lead in the WHL Championship over the Ice. They can win it all tonight in game 5. The visitors will hope for a win to send it back to Winnipeg for game 6 which would be on Sunday. Puck drop is at 9 PM CDT.

Jets news:

Kicker: Leon Gawanke has strong words for former organization. Take the translation with a grain of salt (cause that headline would be something else if accurate) but it’s clear that the 2017 5th rounder wasn’t pleased. I thought the Jets made a mistake not getting him into his first NHL game this season (especially since they could have inserted him into the lineup against the Avs in game 82 when the game was meaningless). That likely would have gone a long way with the player and could potentially have avoided this situation.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets fan survey: What’s the path back to Stanley Cup contention? (Paywall). In part 2 according to Murat folks ” assessed the state of the franchise, picked your lines, revamped your defence, named your captain, rank your top prospects, ran the summer as Jets GM and *a lot* more.”

Moose video/audio:

Illegal Curve Hockey: End of Season Roundtable. We wrapped up the season yesterday with an end of season Moose recap show which featured head coach Mark Morrison, GM Craig Heisinger and players Tyrel Bauer (first year pro), Declan Chisholm (AHL All-Star) and Dominic Toninato (fresh new 2 year deal).

Ice news:

Winnipeg Free Press: It’s now or never for Ice. (Paywall). There is no tomorrow (unless they win) for the WHL club of Winnipeg this evening in Kent, Washington.
