Note: The Jets practiced on Friday in Winnipeg before they headed west. The biggest news from skate was head coach Rick Bowness advising that Nikolaj Ehlers, who was potentially gonna skate late in the week, wasn’t going to be rushed back by the team and that they now expected him to be on the ice either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. The team did recall forward Mikey Eyssimont from the Moose to give them insurance on this short, road trip. Be sure check out the pre-game report when “morning” skate gets underway at 12:30 PM CST followed by puck drop at 9 PM.
Note II: Tonight, after the final buzzer sounds between the Jets and Flames, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the latest game for the NHL team of Winnipeg. This season you’ll have a chance to win great schwag including authentic Jets jerseys, hats, etc after every single game (For a variety of ways to enter click here).
Note III: So far in the previous couple of series during this six-game homestand the Moose have lost the first game and won the second. Last night was no exception as the comeback fell short against the Wranglers. We shall see if this pattern continues on Sunday at 12 noon in the re-match.
Note IV: The Ice will be looking to make it 13 wins in a row tonight when they welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings to town. Winnipeg is an impressive 17-1-0-0 on the season which included a sweep of their two-game series this week with Red Deer who came to town undefeated. Puck drop is at 8:35 PM CST.
Note V: Join us on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show at 9 AM CST for two hours of mostly Jets talk. We will be joined by Jeff Hamilton of the Winnipeg Free Press and play-by-play voice of the Manitoba Moose Daniel Fink.
Jets news:
Sportsnet: Jets’ Cole Perfetti adjusting quickly to NHL level thanks to studious nature. We had a literal example of it yesterday in practice when I noticed 91 studying the plays before the practice got fully underway. He is always thinking and that is pretty evident.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets take new toy on the road. The Jets are going to be tested big time by a surly Flames bunch who aren’t going to want to hear their fans giving them the boo birds.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets flying, Flames fading. (Paywall). Does it count as bulletin board material if it doesn’t come from your opponent?
Winnipeg Free Press: Bettman takes umbrage at scribe’s column. (Paywall). It will be interesting to see attendance at Canada Life as the season continues along.
Calgary Sun: Flames searching for answers as losses pile up. Gain insight into the Jets opponent.
Moose news:
Illegal Curve: Moose comeback falls short as Wranglers take first ever meeting 3-2. Get the full 411 from yesterday’s contest including a look at the lines, some notable game facts, post-game media avails and what comes next.
