Note: Tuesday started with a bang with the news that long-time TSN broadcaster Sara Orlesky would be joining the Winnipeg Jets as a sr. producer/host.

Note II: Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet is running his monthly mailbag which remains open for bit longer (scheduled to run on Friday). So if you’ve got a burning Jets question hit him via DM or send an email to kenjr@shaw.ca or wiebesworld9@gmail.com.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Excited to get back’: Jets Scheifele eager to prove team’s better than it showed last season. Scott was out at Southwood golf course to chat with the Jets centre and to get some feedback on what was a bit of an uncertain summer.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ biggest off-season move comes… in the broadcast booth? One thing about Paul…he never minces words. He reacts to the news about Sara but also had quite a bit to say about Mark Scheifele.

Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele happy to be back, eager to get season in full swing. (Paywall). Mike was also over at Southwood asking the Jets centre some questions on Tuesday.

TSN: Scheifele: ‘Probably a little too honest’ with end-of-year comments. While it is nice for players not to simply use clichés (and as Scheifele admitted in his talk with Sara he is a cliché machine) during their interviews they also need to own what they say. I suspect if he added a bit more onus on himself during that discussion the overall tenor may have been different. Lots of folks would empathize with the curiosity about the direction of this franchise.

Jets video:

TSN: After talk with Chevy, Scheifele excited for the upcoming season. After his comments after the season had many wondering whether Mark Scheifele was happy about the direction the Jets were headed. The Jets’ forward spoke to the media on Tuesday and revealed he’s excited for the season and believes enough changes were made to get them back on track.

TSN: Scheifele on the departures of Comrie and Copp: ‘I lost two of my best friends’. With Eric Comrie signing in Buffalo and Andrew Copp landing with the Red Wings for five years after his stint with the Rangers. Mark Scheifele admits it will be a tough season not having those two around, but admits as a friend he’s happy to see where they are.

JetsTV: Sara Orlesky goes 1 on 1 with Mark Scheifele. In her first interview in her new role with Winnipeg the veteran broadcaster spoke with the Jets top centre about his end of season comments, self-reflections after last season, his conversation with new head coach Rick Bowness and more.

Moose news:

Official Manitoba Site: Evan Polei confident after career year. A big part of the Lunch Pail line (as coined by moi) Polei was a force with the Moose last season and had great chemistry with Nicholas Jones and Cole Maier.
