Note: Today is the day folks have been waiting for. The 2022 NHL Draft which takes place in Montreal starting this evening with round 1 and then rounds 2-7 tomorrow. A reminder that the Jets have two 1st round picks (14th overall and 30th overall), one 2nd round pick, one 3rd round pick, one 6th round pick and one 7th round pick. Also we will be hosting a special edition Illegal Curve Draft Show so join us for round 1 coverage starting at 6 PM on our YouTube channel.

Note II: Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff spoke for close to ten minutes on Wednesday following the GM meetings. Topics included: who gets final say on draft pick, might there be more trades this draft, choosing 2nd in 2022 vs 2023, trading down, conversations about Blake Wheeler, selecting Russian players and more. You can watch it in full here.

Note III: The NHL released the schedule for the 2022-23 season and we took a look at things from a Jets perspective starting with the home opener against the Rangers on October 14th all the way to the conclusion of the regular season six months later on April 13th against the defending Cup champ Avalanche. Winnipeg Free Press: Draft drama on tap. (Paywall). We could learn quite a bit about this Jets club over the next week or so between the Draft and the opening of Free Agency.

Winnipeg Sun: Draft day go could any which way for the Jets, GM Cheveldayoff. If you couldn’t watch the entire chat with the Jets GM from yesterday Scott gives you some insight into the conversation.

Winnipeg Sun: Coming home: Jets’ Arniel back where it all began. Leaving a comfortable situation in Washington to pursue a dream is quite the move from the new associate coach.

Winnipeg Free Press: Ice teammates take in surreal Draft environment. (Paywall). Lots of folks would be happy to see either Geekie or Savoie have their named called out by the Jets later this evening. Mike wrote about the pair of prospects.

Winnipeg Free Press: Family affair for Manitoba prospects. (Paywall). They may be second cousins but the two Manitobans will likely both have their names called out in the 1st round this evening.

TSN: Named after Cy Young, Mateychuk makes strong pitch to NHL teams. Another highly regarded Manitoban who many folks would love to see get drafted by the Jets.
