Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets and Moose news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets stuck around in Del Boca Vista Phase III long enough to have a practice before they took off for New York on Monday. The road trio doesn’t let up as they take on a Rangers team that sits fifth overall in the NHL and are 7-2-1 in their last 10. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 10:30 AM CDT so stay tuned for the pre-game report to get the full 411 ahead of the game against New York. Puck drop is at 6 PM CDT and following the final buzzer we want you to join the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show.

Note II: The Moose took Monday off after splitting their weekend series with the IceHogs. Today they are scheduled to practice as they get set for a weekend series on the road which is the final regular season one for them which will see them start in Rockford on Saturday and conclude Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.

Note III: The Ice also have a day of practice set as they prepare for game 1 of the 1st round which gets going on Friday here in Winnipeg.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: Josh Morrissey’s hardest loss: How cherished moments with dying father transformed Jets star. (Paywall). That couldn’t have been an easy story for him to share nor an easy one for Murat to write. Well worth your time.

Winnipeg Sun: Former Jets forward Copp thriving in Big Apple. Losing his versatility does hurt the Jets but I am not certain they could or should have paid what he will be asking in his next contract cause my guess is the asking number starts with a five.

Winnipeg Free Press: Every molecule of Jets organization needs to go under microscope. (Paywall). The Summer of Chevy was supposed to be last year but it appears Part Deux will be happening in the summer of 2022 (unless it is the Summer of insert other GM here ______). Mike suggests it is time to look at this organization from top to bottom.

Winnipeg Free Press: Copp fitting in nicely with Rangers’ starry cast. (Paywall). The Jets will have to hope he fits in so well that they win a few rounds and that conditional second rounder they acquired in the trade upgrades to a first rounder.

Sportsnet: Under the playoff lights on Broadway, what Copp once gave the Jets will shine. No offense intended towards the Carl Klingberg trade but this one may end up being the most impactful of the four the two teams have made since 2011.

New York Post: Andrew Copp proving to be perfect Rangers fit ahead of meeting with old team. Gain insight into the acquisition from a writer that covers Copp in his new home.

The Athletic New York: Andrew Copp’s worlds collide. (Paywall). Not sure what is weirder. Copp in a Rangers jersey or Arthur Staple covering the Rangers after he covered the Islanders for what felt like forever.

Ice news:

Illegal Curve Hockey: Ice Chips. Jake gives you his last look back at the final week of the regular season for the Winnipeg Ice, gives you his first round preview and provides his Star of the 2021-22 season.
