Note: The Jets took Wednesday off after defeating the Golden Knights on Tuesday night. Today they are scheduled to practice at 11 AM here in Winnipeg so stay tuned for a Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose and Canucks had a re-match last night in Abbotsford which saw an entertaining but low scoring first two periods (Abbotsford held a 1-0 lead after 40) blow up into a wild, seven goal 3rd period which saw the Moose score four straight (Heinola, Lynch, Chisholm & Gustafsson) in 4:59 and then the Canucks stormed back to tie the game with three straight goals in 2:45 to send it to OT where the home team lost. Despite the defeat the Moose took three of four points and they will jet over to Iowa where they will face the Wild in a pair of games starting on Saturday night and on a seven-game points streak (5-0-1-1). No media availability today as it is a travel day.

Note III: Somewhat overshadowed by the big win on Tuesday night was the news that Jets prospect Cole Perfetti is still not close to skating yet.

Jets news:

Global News: Copp reflective when discussing injury scare, future as trade deadline looms. Wieber reacts to today’s media availability with respect to the versatile forward’s future.

The Athletic: How would Andrew Copp look with the Avalanche? Breaking down the Jets forward’s trade cost, lineup fit, more. (Paywall). I personally don’t see the Jets making a trade within the division but Murat and Peter still engaged in the ‘what it’ exercise with their combined piece.

Chicago Sun-Times: If trade happens, Dominik Kubalik’s Blackhawks tenure will come to unsatisfying end. Ben Pope reporting (on twitter, not in his article, which has Edmonton and Anaheim as frontrunners) that the Jets are also a team who have interest in the left shooting winger. Read more about the Czech forward in his article.

Sportsnet: Jets Trade Deadline Preview: Cheveldayoff faces critical decision on franchise’s direction. I actually don’t really see this trade deadline as being that significant for the Winnipeg Jets as it appears that it is just Copp and Stastny in play. The biggest question for me is the direction they take this summer.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ playoff climb getting some help from teams they have to catch. With teams like Vegas, Dallas, Anaheim and even the big boys in Nashville and Minnesota it has certainly made it seem a little more plausible that Winnipeg isn’t that far back from being able to sneak themselves back into the playoff race.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Could Jets’ in-game response to fan reaction cement Kevin Cheveldayoff’s conservative trade deadline plans? (Paywall). Can one game have that much of an impact? Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff cannot afford to be such a short-term thinker. He has to be thinking about what is best for the franchise this year but also next year and the year after that and the year after that.

Sportsnet: 32 Thoughts. Couple of Jets related ones and no surprise they deal with Copp/Stastny. Number 13 speaks about hockey decisions tied to financial losses and number 27 mentions Avs in on Copp.

Sportsnet: Best and most likely outcomes for Canadian teams at 2022 NHL trade deadline. When it comes to the Jets it is the usual speculation about Copp/Stastny.

Sportsnet: The Jets are surging. Will it change Cheveldayoff’s trade deadline approach? Imagine if they defeat Boston and Chicago the next two games before the trade deadline. Quite the conundrum.

Jets video:

Global News:  Weekly chat about the Jets with John Shannon. What will the Winnipeg Jets do at the trade deadline? What’s wrong with Connor Hellebuyck? 680 CJOB hockey analyst John Shannon looks at the Jets recent surge which has put them within two points of a playoff spot.

Jets audio:

JetsTV: Ground Control Podcast. Former Jets forward Anthony Peluso joins the Ground Control podcast! The tough guy reflects on his hockey career, his time and relationship he forged in Winnipeg and shares what he is up to now at his home in Ontario. Plus, Mitchell and Jamie join Tyler to recap a solid week for the Jets as they’ve gone 6-2-1 in their last nine games. They talk about the new line of Connor, Dubois and Ehlers, the push for a playoff spot and much more!

Moose news:

Full Press Hockey: Mikey Eyssimont: A hidden gem on a stacked team. A hidden gem is an apt way to describe the tenacious forward who has quite the motor. He’s so tenacious that the refs are sometimes handing him four minute minors when he didn’t even commit the crime (see here).
