Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets and Moose news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets were desperately in need of two points last night after losing to the Oilers and Flames their last two games but last night in Dallas they allowed the Stars to pick up the critical two points with an OT win. Winnipeg will be off today. They have an incredibly tough game on Friday against the Avalanche in Colorado.

Note II: The Moose took on the Admirals last night in the rubber match of their three-game series and after opening up the scoring the home side were hammered by their opponent to the tune of a 6-2 win by Milwaukee. Manitoba will lick their wounds today as they get set for their weekend series with Chicago here in Winnipeg.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Jets’ offensive slump putting unnecessary pressure on Hellebuyck. We’ve said this a number of times but who would have thought scoring goals would be a problem for this Jets team.

Winnipeg Sun: Despite strong game from Hellebuyck, Jets fall to Stars in OT. The Jets top netminder probably wanted that first goal back but was solid throughout the contest and gave his team more than a good enough chance to win the game.

Winnipeg Sun: Evgeny Svechnikov given another chance to nail down top-six role. Little muscle memory with Kyle Connor and Pierre-Luc Dubois is probably gonna be good for them as a trio after what we saw earlier this season.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ playoff hopes hang by thread after overtime loss to Stars. (Paywall).  It isn’t just about the fact that they lost the extra point it was how they played against a Dallas team that is by no means a juggernaut.

Dallas Morning News: Tyler Seguin’s OT goal helps Stars win another crucial game against Jets to improve playoff chances. Get insight into last night’s game from a writer who covers the Jets opponent.

Moose news:

Winnipeg Free Press: More opportunities for Heinola on Moose. (Paywall). If he is going to play and play big minutes instead of being benched in the NHL then the move is a no brainer. Even if you think he deserves to be in the NHL (spoiler alert: he does) the person who ultimately makes that decision isn’t you and for that reason the 2019 1st rounder is better off playing games in the AHL.
