Note: The Jets were off on Sunday after hitting the midpoint of the season on Saturday with a big 4-1 win over the Blues. Today they are in Philadelphia where they will practice ahead of tomorrow’s game against the Flyers. The expectation is they could be getting back some players from their laundry list of injured (as well as Josh Morrissey who was in protocol) so stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose fell short on Saturday against the Canucks in the first ever meeting between the two clubs but on Sunday they earned a split courtesy of a 5-3 win over Abbotsford. Lots of contributions across the board including Jeff Malott who had two goals in the game which allowed him to hit the 20 point mark for the second straight season (coincidentally in the same number of games). Manitoba improved to 23-11-2-1 on the season and they currently sit 2nd in the Central. They are off today.

Note III: Jets 2018 3rd rounder Nathan Smith finished up his pre-Olympics schedule with three assists as his Minnesota State club swept Arizona State this weekend. He has 41 pts (15G 26A) in 28 games. Leads NCAA in scoring by 5 points. Next stop is L.A. & then Beijing for him.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Trailing in the playoff race, will Cheveldayoff buy or sell? You had questions and Wieber tries to provide answers in his latest installment of his mailbag.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Wheeler’s 2022 NHL prospect pool rankings: No. 11 Winnipeg Jets. Have to say I am a bit surprised 2018 3rd rounder Nathan Smith isn’t on this list given he is leading the NCAA in scoring.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets could crash without leaving runway. (Paywall). Jeff gives a look at the state of the local NHL club at the midpoint of their season.

Illegal Curve Hockey: Saturday PodcastTopics discussed on the show included: The Jets identity. Previewing the Jets and Blues game. The Jets D prospects jumping into the lineup. Needing contributions from across the team. Our guests were Jesse Pollock of TSN Bardown at and Lou Korac of NHL.com.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve: Moose earn split against Canucks with 5-3 win. A look at the lineup, noteworthy tidbits from the game, media availability with players and head coach Mark Morrison, highlights from the game and what comes next for Manitoba.

Winnipeg Free Press: Moose need some stability. (Paywall). While it is true that the team would be happy to have a number of their top scorers as well as their glut of Jets D prospects in the lineup on a nightly basis, I think it has been incredibly beneficial to this team to be able to learn how to adapt with those players missing and most importantly continue to win games with all these absences.
