Note II: Jets 2021 5th rounder Dmitri Rashevsky making more noise over in the KHL. A two goal effort for Dynamo Moscow gives him 8G 5A for 13PTS in 10 GP (7th overall in scoring). Goal 1: nice positioning vs Dman Goal 2: smarts to get to open, great fake on defender and great shot. Watch them both here.
Note III: Day 7, which includes the second pre-season game of the year against the Oilers, gets underway with a morning skate out at the IcePlex starting at 10 AM. Then the non-playing group will practice at 11 AM. Puck drop is at 7 PM.
Jets news:
Sportsnet: New Jets Nate Schmidt, Brenden Dillon already ‘just fit right in’. The expression ‘Just what the doctor ordered’ seems appropriate for these two newcomers.
Winnipeg Sun: Schmidt enjoying peeling back Morrissey’s layers. This pairing has a very Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito vibe from the 80s classic Twins.
Winnipeg Sun: Good feelings evident as Jets have quickly gelled early in training camp. One thing I said that this team needed more of in the past few years was fun. They just seemed too tight. Less than a week into camp and it seems like things are much lighter already.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets ‘D’ has to give Helly more help. (Paywall). While it is easy to rest on your laurels when you have a goalie of Hellebuyck’s calibre in net, this new group of six will have to ensure they cut down on some of the chances he faced over the past few years.
Winnipeg Free Press: ‘No purse’ policy irks Jets fans. (Paywall). Jay wrote about the challenges some are experiencing as they try to get into the arena during this new era.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Nate Schmidt’s exuberant personality — and experience on defence — is impossible to ignore. (Paywall). Murat wrote about the players with a smile from ear to ear.
