ESPN: Inside the NHL’s decision to put ads on jerseys.  There seemed to be a bit of an outcry when the helmet ads arrived and it seemed inevitable that jerseys ads would follow.  We’ve seen them in the AHL for years and they are fairly innocuous for the most part.  Greg does a good job of breaking it all down in this piece.  How do you feel about the addition of ads to jerseys?

The Athletic: Which NHL teams improved or hurt their Stanley Cup odds the most this offseason? (Paywall). Another article on the topic of betting.  I am somewhat surprised that gamblers don’t seem to like the Jets for more than a mid of the pack team when it comes to betting.

This was the sort of headline 10+ years ago that would have made Darren Ford’s Jets meter hit 100 and folks would be refreshing this site numerous times to read about the latest Drama in the Desert. Not a good sign for the Jets 1.0 franchise.

Sportsnet: Blues interested in UFA defenceman Zdeno Chara. Might the big man be in the Central next season?
