Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  The Jets looked they were cruising as they built up a 2-0 lead over the Flames only to have to force a comeback late in the 3rd to send the game to extra time which they ultimately lost in a shootout. No time to cry over the lost point for Winnipeg as these two teams are back in action tonight.  Stay tuned for the pre-game report in advance of the 7 pm puck drop.

Note II:  Another day of training camp for the Manitoba Moose out at the IcePlex this afternoon as they continue to work towards a regular season which still has not been announced by the AHL. Update:  The Moose got a roster boost with two players joining today’s skate.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets drop shootout to Flames.  They salvaged a point which, given how close could end up being this season, could prove important whenever game 56 concludes. Paul recaps the contest.

Calgary Sun:  Tanev’s lucky strike leads Flames to comeback victory in Winnipeg.  I’m convinced his time as a member of the Manitoba Moose back in 2010-11 taught him how to perfect the bounce shot inside Bell MTS Place I’m kidding of course but the 2nd period tally did allow Calgary to get back into this game.  Read about the contest from the perspective of someone who covers the Flames.

TSN: Big third period sparks Flames to second straight win.  The Flames got off to another slow start and only had 13 shots through two periods, but Johnny Gaudreau opened things up in the third and extended his point streak to eight games.
