Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  The Jets lost a tough one last night 3-1 to the Leafs in Toronto after a sloppy 1st, being dominated in the 2nd but remaining within striking distance but ultimately not being able to equalize things in the 3rd.  It came without Patrik Laine who is listed by the team as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Note II:  No rest for the Jets however as they are in Ottawa today to take on the Senators tonight.  Check back for our pre-game report this morning with puck drop at 6 pm.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets fall to Leafs after getting dominated in second period.  When the Jets were being outshot 19-1 in the 2nd it felt like someone on the team bench needed to start waving the white towel of surrender.  Ted provides the post-game analysis in this piece.

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Pedal to the metal’ for Jets’ Stanley.  Sounds like the offseason work he put in had a major impact.

Winnipeg Free Press: Big guy Stanley fits right in. (Paywall). While it wasn’t the NHL debut the Ontario product was hoping for as that would have included a team win and a lot of family and friends, it was still an important step for the Jets other 1st rounder from the 2016 draft.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets fall flat against Leafs in losing effort. (Paywall).  While it is still very early in the season and the team was missing one of their top forwards and one of their top defencemen, Mike wrote about the risky strategy of simply tweaking this blueline.

Sportsnet: Jets trying to stay focused as they limp into busiest stretch of season. This season, probably more than ever before, organization depth will be tested across the NHL. Jets are dealing with that to start this road trip.

Global News: Why investing a roster spot on a 3rd goalie is a wise move for Jets. Ken makes the case for why this move makes sense. That is why I thought the Jets would have done so with Eric Comrie in order to ensure you don’t get left with the exact situation they ended up with after he was claimed by New Jersey.
