Jets news:

Jets official site:  Plays of the Year – Round 1 Match-up 4.  Who would you rather see win?  Evander Kane or Evander Kane??  Looks like the Vancouverite is taking on himself in the latest match-up.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Gold medal’s the plan for LaddLooking to add to his already impressive list of hardware, the Jets captain will take his leadership skills to Finland/Sweden for the Worlds.
Andrew Ladd

Winnipeg Sun:  Call of Canada special for LaddOf course Ladd is trying not to think ahead to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia but that is easier said than done.

Jets official site:  Prominent Pavelec.  He was the hands down fan favourite at the MTS Centre this year.  Every game the loudest fan ovation was reserved for #31.

Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:

The Telegram:  Mile One looked good all in whiteFolks in Winnipeg may not have had their whiteout this season, but the Mile One faithful rocked the white for the most part last night.  Great to see the affiliate continuing a Jets 1.0 tradition, which is expected to continue with the Jets 2.0.

The Telegram:  IceCaps win, take series leadThe Caps won decisively yesterday 5-1 over the Crunch in the first ever home playoff win for St. John’s newest AHL teamThe Jets 1st pick (7th overall) in the 2011 Entry Draft Mark Scheifele, wearing #42, made his AHL debut finishing with 1 shot on net and a -1.

The Post-Standard:  Crunch blown out in Game 3In a best of 5 series, game 3 is critically important, especially given games 4 & 5 (if necessary) are to be played in St. John’sCoach trent Yawney though has this squad playing some great hockey so he will have his team ready for the next contest.

Winnipeg Sun:  Meech leads IceCaps in Game 3.  The veteran leadership of a Meech type player is invaluable to a younger team like the Caps.

Stanley Cup Playoff news:

Ottawa Citizen:  Senators believe this Game 7 will be differentMuch of this team has been rebuilt so it is difficult to talk about games from a “lifetime” ago and hold this team accountable to same.  Having said that, sports loves to reference these type of streaks (Ottawa having  lost all those game 7’s) until they are broken.

New York Daily News: Rangers looking for a Madison Square Garden edgeThis playoff season has been a different animal, with road teams winning a lot more than normal.  We have already seen a number of the big dogs cast aside, and many believe this Senators team has enough to do same to the #1 in the East ranked Rangers.

The Star-Ledger:  Brodeur set to play in his 10th Game 7My guess is the Devils great is inclined to remember the 5 he won verse the 4 he has lost.

Miami Herald:  Panthers ready for BankAtlantic Center’s first Game 7It all comes down to this: 1 game for all the marbles.  Will the 3rd seed Florida team, who many didn’t think had a chance to win, advance to the 2nd round for the first time since their Stanley Cup losing run in 1995/96.

Note:  For those following the drama between President & Chief Operating Officer of the Florida Panthers Michael Yormark and a Devils fan named Lauren Ashley (who is now over 4000 followers from 70 just a few days ago) the latest development is he will be flying her and her dad down to Florida to watch Game 7 in his suite tonight.  Might this be like the time on Seinfeld when Elaine Benes wore her Baltimore Orioles hat in the Yankees box? For those unaware here is the back story.

Illegal Curve:  Stanley Cup Nightly recapIf you missed any of the stories from last night’s NHL action we have you covered.
