Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Morrissey to the rescue. While hockey is not an individual game having 44 in the lineup will have so many benefits all over the ice. The really good news for both him, the organization and fans is that he was able to skate during this injury so that shouldn’t be an area of concern.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets Snapshots. Paul’s list includes: Winnipeg ready to flip switch to playoff mode … Maurice says it’s all about the goalies … Jets Tanev will miss opener… Blues GM ready to attend church of the Jets.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets confirm Morrissey will be in lineup for Game 1 of playoffs. Not soon enough.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets vs. Blues will be ‘a really tough series’. (Paywall). No doubt about it this will be a rough and tumble series.
Winnipeg Free Press: Playoffs and pressure a matched set, confident Hellebuyck says. (Paywall). It is a heavy burden to wear the mantle of number one goalie. Especially one in a Canadian market on a team that is expected to be a Stanley Cup contender. Hellebuyck learned some valuable lessons last season as he guided his team to the third round and it will be incumbent on him to apply what he learned and his growth this season to taking this team to the next level.
The Globe and Mail: Jets will have to put the work in to achieve postseason liftoff over Blues. The Blues could be just the wakeup call that Winnipeg needs.
The Athletic: Jets – Blues Preview. (Paywall). Dom takes a look at the numbers behind this series.
The Athletic: Missouri vs. Manitoba – Breaking down the Blues-Jets first-round playoff series. (Paywall). Murat and Jeremy with a look at the series from writers that cover both St. Louis and Winnipeg.
TSN: Jets, Blues prepare for epic playoff battle. Jets broadcaster Paul Edmonds trades in his headset for a pen as he previews the first round series.
Global News: Jets, including Josh Morrissey, ready to take on St. Louis. You can feel the excitement from the players as it gets closer and closer to the playoffs actually getting underway.
CBC: Morrissey back, Tanev still out as Jets prepare for St. Louis Blues. Both are impactful players but the addition of 44 will likely be a huge difference maker for this club as it will allow the coaching staff to push guys down a bit in the lineup.
Jets video:
TSN: Jets expect to rely on depth, Hellebuyck to take down Blues. With the Jets taking on the surging Blues, a pair of dominant top lines are expected to meet head-to-head. But as head coach Paul Maurice says, ‘I think this series is going to be ground on those other lines.’ Winnipeg is well aware that to make it far in the playoffs, the teams’ depth and goaltending needs to shine through.
TSN: Goaltending expected to garner a lot of attention in Jets-Blues series. Connor Hellebuyck may not be in the Vezina conversation this season like he was last year, but with each passing month, the Jets’ netminder has continued to elevate his game. With the Blues’ Jordan Binnington generating headlines with his play, goaltending is expected to get a lot of attention in Winnipeg’s first-round series. Sara Orlesky has more.
TSN: Does the way the Jets closed out the regular season raise any red flags? Should the Jets have legitimate worries about the level of their play to close out the regular season compared to how the Blues finished theirs out? That’s Hockey weighs in.
