Note: The Jets faced the top team in the NHL last night when they took on the Bolts in Tampa and they were unable to keep their win streak alive against a red-hot Lightning squad falling 5-2 at Amalie Arena. Today the team is off as they get some rest before hitting the ice on Thursday for a practice in Carolina.
Note II: The Moose hit the ice for practice after taking Tuesday off as they get set for the most critical homestand of the season. They are currently sitting last in the Central Division but the jump from 8th (Moose) to 4th (Texas/IceHogs/Admirals) is just four points. They’ll start this weekend off against a Rockford team that sits above them (obviously if they are in last) and clean points are going to be on the agenda this weekend.
Note III: We’ve got two hours of Winnipeg Jets and NHL Hockey talk via NHL This Week with Illegal Curve coming your way starting at 7 pm on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Free Press: Tampa has Lightning in a bottle. (Paywall). It will be interesting to see if they can avoid the curse of the President’s Trophy (only eight teams in the last 32 seasons who finished with the best regular season record went on to win the Stanley Cup).
