Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news and audio.

Note:  Yesterday in the late afternoon we learned that the dynamic duo of Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele will be taking their talents to San Jose to represent the Jets in the 2019 All-Star game later this month.  A few hours later the team held their Skills Competition in front of a pretty full house in downtown Winnipeg and you can check out the photos on our Instagram account.  Today the Jets are scheduled to practice at 10:00 AM at Bell MTS Place before they leave for Pittsburgh for a one-game road trip and the Practice Report will bring you up-to-speed with the latest news and audio.

Note II:  The Moose modest two game win streak ended last night as they drop the first game of the three game Texas road trip by a 3-1 score. Lone goal scorer was Jansen Harkins who hits the five goal mark in game 31. Had just two goals in 46 games for Moose last season.  Today they are in Cedar Park, Texas to practice for the last two games of their road trip.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets players, fans get up close and personal at team’s annual skills competition.  (Paywall).  It is one of the best events of the year because it allows young fans to really interact with players and vice versa.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets Snapshots Paul’s column covers: 1) Wheeler & Scheifele off to the All-Star game. 2) Old man Wheeler. 3) Extra work pays off. 4) Like father. 5) Trash and talent.

Sportsnet:  31 ThoughtsNothing overly insightful regarding the Jets as he simply asks who will be the Jets Paul Stastny type acquisition (point 6) this season.  Perhaps as our own Drew Mindell mentioned on twitter it may be someone like Brock Nelson who Friedman later references (point 9) as a UFA.
