Note: It was an exciting end to the pre-Christmas portion of the Jets schedule as Laurent Brossoit’s 40-save performance led the way to victory which was facilitated by Mark Scheifele’s 22nd goal of the year which turned out to be the game winner (his fifth this season). The 1-0 victory over the Canucks improved the Jets to 24-10-2 on the season which made them the first Western Conference team to 50 points and has them in top spot overall in the West. They are now on their Christmas break and will return to action when they face the Flames here in Winnipeg on December 27th.
Note II: Things are not going so well for the AHL affiliate as the Manitoba Moose are dealing with eight injured players (in addition to having Mason Appleton up with the Jets) and as you might expect their record of late reflects this reality having lost five straight games. Manitoba is off until next Friday when they resume practice ahead of their first ever game against the newest team in the AHL (Colorado Eagles) who also happened to be the Jets ECHL affiliate a few years back. The Moose will switch to their dark jerseys for the post-Christmas portion of the schedule which begins with an afternoon contest next Sunday (December 30th).
