Note: The Jets were back on the ice on Sunday for a 45 minute practice followed by media availability (Wheeler, Laine, Lowry, Petan and coach Maurice). Today they have the day off as they try to get back into Winnipeg mode ahead of Friday’s game with Colorado. While the team is off they do expect to hear suspension news regarding Brendan Lemieux who has a phone hearing with the Department of Player Safety this afternoon. (Update: Lemieux was given a two-game suspension).
Note II: The Moose didn’t practice on Sunday but they did spend a few hours with their fans at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Today they will be on the ice at 10 AM as they prepare to close out this four-game home stand with a pair of games on Thursday and Saturday against Grand Rapids.

Winnipeg Sun: Petan appreciates support from Jets, league in wake of family tragedy. The hockey community is a tight one so it comes with little surprise that all across the NHL folks were supportive of Nic Petan as he dealt with his family’s tragedy.
Winnipeg Sun: Finland trip something Jets’ star Laine will remember for rest of his life. It was quite evident as the talented Finn spoke on Sunday just how much of an impact this trip had on him. The question becomes whether Patrik Laine can keep the momentum going.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets looking to get back into rhythm after Finland trip disrupts schedule. One thing was clear as day following players availability on Sunday was that they didn’t love traveling that far during the regular season. It was clearly out of the norm and disrupted the rhythm.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets regroup after Helsinki sojourn. (Paywall). While it was a long way to go for two games the good news for Winnipeg is they will have some time to recover following the trip.
Winnipeg Free Press: Petan glad to have skating legs back after tragedy. (Paywall). He is likely going to get his best chance to make some noise as he will be in the lineup with Lemieux likely to be suspended later this afternoon.

Illegal Curve: Moose got loose at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Players were down at the Assiniboine Park Zoo interacting with fans and meeting members of the community in a different manner to which we are accustomed.
