Jets news:

CBC:  NHL Power rankings.  The Jets slipped from 19th to 22nd overall.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Wasted opportunity at home major turbulenceThis is one of those games you reflect on at the end of the season and think what those 2 points could have meant for your place in the standings.  However, while it was an important game, the Jets have the opportunity to prove themselves by playing well in this week’s back-to-back (in St. Paul to face Wild on Thursday and home to face Bruins on Friday).

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets reflectionsOne just isn’t enough.  Crease nightmares.  No Hamonic homecoming, part deux.  Notable numbers.  Update from the Rock.

Winnipeg Sun:  Antropov gets demotedCoach Noel is trying whatever he can to try and get his team back to being able to score more than one goal.  It appears he would like to light a fire under Antropov and during that one shift in the 2nd period if looked like something changed in the big centre.

Winnipeg Sun:  Thorburn does it againHe didn’t score often last season but did score in bunches, when he scored 3 goals in 3 games for the Thrashers.  He has been the Jets sniper of late and has broken the slump which dogged him for a large part of the season.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets crying for helpWith news of players like Jeff Carter and Rick Nash available Jets fans are already wondering what it would take to see these players in a Jets jersey.  The answer is way too much.  The Jets are building for the future and we don’t expect to see any ‘quick fix’ trades by this staff.

Winnipeg Sun:  SnapshotsAnother wasted opportunity.  Good start, poor finish.  GST line was banging and crashing all game.  Pandolfo meets Jets net.  First Jets pp against Isles in 3 games.  Missed chances.  Poor PK.  Rough shift for Hainsey.  Antro’s disappointing play.  Lighting a fire under Burmistrov.  Key to playoff run.  Not mortgaging the future.  Down on the farm.

Globe and Mail:  Power play sputtersIt was anything but powerful.   The Jets looked lost trying to set up, and were unable to control the play against the 9th ranked Islanders PK.

Game Recap – Islanders 3 Jets 1:

Winnipeg Jets:  Ondrej Pavelec, Tanner Glass, Chris Thorburn and coach Noel.

New York Islanders:  Andrew MacDonald, PA Parenteau, Evgeni Nabokov and coach Capuano.

Illegal Curve: Post-game podcast. Guest host Michael Remis and Analyst Richard Pollock break down the game.

Illegal Curve:  Jets on a DeadlineGame recaps, post-game audio, video highlights and the NHL.com 3 Stars.

Next opponent news – Minnesota Wild:

1500 ESPN Twin Cities:  Same old story for Wild, offense goes silent, losing streak growsSafe to say the Jets and Wild will not likely combine for more than 3 or 4 goals on Thursday night.

Pioneer Press:  Goal-a-game diet shrinks Wild playoff chancesInsert the word Jets for Wild and you could write the same headline for the neighbors 8 hours north west of St. Paul.

FS North:  Wild offense struggles again in loss to AnaheimBoth the Jets and the Wild are fading in the playoff race and it will be interesting to see which team is able to change course on Thursday.
