Note: Busy Monday for the Jets (get fully caught up via Jets Practice Report) as we learned that they will be without Matt Hendricks and Brandon Tanev and as a result have recalled Brendan Lemieux and Nic Petan. The team also placed Adam Lowry on injured reserve retroactive to February 1st. With the two Moose players up we could see seven of the 12 Jets forwards are players who have spent some time with their AHL affiliate. The Jets will have a morning skate at 10:30 am and puck drop is at 7 pm with the Coyotes in for a battle of Jets 2.0 vs Jets 1.0. Update: Click here to read our Jets pre-game report. Stay tuned throughout the day for any and all Jets news and updates via Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.
Note II: The Moose are gonna have to adjust having lost two of their top forwards for tonight’s re-match with the Admirals in Milwaukee. Manitoba is looking to keep their road streak alive having won five straight on this nine game road trip and have points in thirteen straight (12-0-1) away from Bell MTS Place. My guess is Chase De Leo and maybe Francis Beauvillier return to the lineup as we didn’t hear about any moves made by them after Petan/Lemieux were recalled. Puck drop is at 7 pm at UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena.
Jets news:
The Players Tribune: Winnipeg is Good. Well if Patrik Laine wasn’t already one of the most popular players on the team in this city I suspect this will put him over the top. Couple of things jumped out at me reading this: 1) Love how his assessment of the Jets was based on their NHL rating and 2) His assessment of the people in Winnipeg shows a fairly clear understanding of folks here in Manitoba.
Winnipeg Sun: Five keys to Jets vs Coyotes. Ken’s big matchup is Blake Wheeler vs Oliver Ekman-Larsson. His keysto the game include: 1) Join the club. 2) Hellebuyck riding high. 3) Providing power. 4) Staying productive. 5) Get Keller going. 6) Perlini finding his way.
Winnipeg Sun: Scheifele sets sights on return. While it appears the rest of the forward corp took a hit there was some good news for the Jets from skate on Monday when coach Maurice indicated that 55 could be back very soon.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets relish Super Bowl experience. Just because they are professional athletes doesn’t mean they aren’t fans as well and players spoke about what it was like to put their fan hats on for a day when they ventured to the biggest sporting event in North America.
Winnipeg Free Press: Trio has super time in Minneapolis on Super Sunday. (Paywall). Players can be fans as well it would appear.
Winnipeg Free Press: Coaching staff needs to get creative as injuries mount. (Paywall). The list of guys out is almost as long as the list of guys in. The good news for the Jets is it isn’t all on the backend like it was last season.
Illegal Curve: Winnipeg Jets Practice Report. Includes practice notes, lines, health updates, recall notices and scrums with Mark Scheifele, Andrew Copp, Bryan Little and coach Maurice.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Jets should look to add a player with playoff experience. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun discusses potential trade targets for the Winnipeg Jets, Rick Nash’s submission of his no-trade list, Patrick Maroon’s future in Edmonton and John Tavares’ pending UFA status.
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Scheifele is eager. Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun joins Andrew Paterson and Darrin Bauming on the Afternoon Ride. They discuss the Eagles win over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, the Jets call up of Brendan Lemieux and Nic Petan, how the special teams will look tomorrow night due to the Jets injuries, Mark Scheifele’s return to practice in a regular jersey and why Blake Wheeler should go back to wing when Scheifele returns.
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: This is a week we’ll likely see Mark Scheifele back in the lineup. TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie joined the show for weekly Monday visit looking back at last week for the Winnipeg Jets, discussing the possibility of Jets captain Blake Wheeler remaining down the middle when Mark Scheifele returns, the price of a top-six forward and Connor Hellebuyck’s next contract.
