Note:  The Jets swept their two-game post Christmas holidays home games as they beat the Oilers on Wednesday and the Islanders 4-2 last night.  They hit 50 points on the season and sit in first place in the central division.  The team is scheduled to practice today before taking off for Edmonton to have a re-match with the Oilers to finish off 2017 on Sunday night.

Note II:  No morning skate for the top ranked Manitoba Moose as they play the first of two straight afternoon contests against the San Jose Barracuda.  Today is also Patrice Cormier bobblehead game and the first 3000 fans will take home the Moose captain mini bobblehead.

Note III:  Please note we are taking today off from today’s Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg but will be back on air next Saturday at 9 am.

Newsday:  Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck stymies Islanders Read a breakdown of the contest last night from a beat writer that covers the Jets opposition.  

Winnipeg Sun:  Hellebuyck stars as Jets beat Islanders The Jets netminder picked up his 20th win of the season and looked good doing it as he held his team in the game when called upon making 41 saves in total.  Ken breaks down the Jets win.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets get revenge on Islanders.  (Paywall).  And perhaps nobody felt better than Shawn Matthias who got back into the lineup and contributed right away.  Mike breaks down the contest.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Draft of 2015 a turning point for Jets, Moose.  (Paywall).  As someone who watches the Moose as frequently as I do and as someone who was at the 2015 draft I am amazed each and every game at how impactful this draft class has been (and that’s without Erik Foley in the pro fold yet).  Mike did a really good job with this article and it is well worth your time.
