Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets didn’t skate yesterday ahead of their trip to Colorado so all eyes will be on today’s morning skate to see if Eric Comrie gets the start previously scheduled for Steve Mason.  I suspect with a light workload in the win against the Wild on Monday that Connor Hellebuyck will be back in net but we will have to wait till 11:30 am MST (12:30 pm here) to find out.  Check out the Winnipeg Jets pre-game report for an update.

Note II:  The Moose return home today following a three game road trip which they swept, giving the team a seven game win streak and means they’ve won 11 games in their last 12 contests.  They demolished the IceHogs last night in Rockford by a final score of 8-1.  Michael Hutchinson made 47 saves, JC Lipon had three goals, Brendan Lemieux had a goal and assist and a host of other players contributed offensively.  The team only allowed two goals in the three game trip and successfully killed 20 of 20 penalties they faced.  Manitoba will start a four-game home stand on Thursday night against the Cleveland Monsters.  Update:  The Moose have cancelled their previously scheduled practice for today at noon.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to Jets versus Avalanche Ken’s big matchup is Kyle Connor vs J.T. Compher. His keys to the game include: 1) Offensive explosion. 2) Top-line leads the way. 3) Fourth-line flurry. 4) Big MacK attack. 5) Return of Varlamov.

Winnipeg Sun:  Fourth line thriving since return of PerreaultI jokingly referenced these guys as the greatest 4th line in the NHL and the truth is when you have a player of Perreault’s calibre on the line, along with someone like Joel Armia who could probably play on a 3rd line, it gives you a lot of options when you can actually rely on the line to put up some points.
