Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  Kick start your day with three hours of Winnipeg Jets and NHL hockey talk on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.  We kick off today’s show at the usual time of 9 am.  A number of guests including Manitoba Moose goalie Eric Comrie.  Tune in here.

Note II:  The Jets final game day is upon here.  Tonight they play game 82 of the schedule against the Nashville Predators.  Morning skate is at 9:30 am while puck drop is at 6 pm.  As always keep it locked to illegalcurve.com for pre and post game news and be sure to follow us on social media including Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note III:  The Moose will practice today as they get ready for the final home game of the season tomorrow afternoon  against the Roadrunners.  They got some additional resources on Friday as the Jets returned Roslovic/Comrie to Manitoba and also saw the team sign Jansen Harkins and Michael Spacek to ATOs.

Note IV: Special note that Sunday the Jets are doing their exit interviews so we will also have plenty of content from the MTS Centre prior to the players departing for their Summer digs.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Remember the love? (Paywall).  Fans in this market have expectations and there isn’t anything wrong with that.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Big Buff encouraged about future.  Provided that all cylinders are firing next season like they are currently then any carryover of this type of play can only excite the fanbase.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets’ rookie unsure if he’ll play at world championships.  (Paywall).  Considering all the hockey that Patrik Laine has played over the past year it isn’t all that surprising that he would want to have a break.

Winnipeg Sun:  Six straight for Jets means bupkis.  Seems like the coach is using this time to evaluate players on an individual basis more than he is the team in its totality.  Probably not a bad plan considering the usual changes that occur to a lineup from year to year.

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys for the Jets to beat the Predators.  Ken’s keys include: 1) Keep it rolling. 2) Spreading the wealth. 3) Finding motivation. 4) Speaking of motivation. 5) Beware of balanced attack.  And his big match-up is Connor Hellebuyck vs Pekka Rinne.

Illegal Curve: Jets return Eric Comrie and Jack Roslovic to the Moose.  There was some thought they would get into the final game with Winnipeg but after their first taste of the NHL they were returned to the Moose to finish off the season.

Illegal Curve:  Jets Practice Report.  It was the final one of the season for Winnipeg and while there weren’t a lot of players on the ice we did hear from Dustin Byfuglien, Patrik Laine, Nikolaj Ehlers and coach Maurice.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Jets were offered Fleury for a second round pick.  Former NHL player agent & Maple Leafs assistant GM Bill Watters joins Rick Ralph and discusses another season out of the playoffs for the Winnipeg Jets and a trade that was offered to the Winnipeg Jets mid-season.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  Moose upend Roadrunners in 5-4 OT win.  Recap includes pre-game notes, scoring summary, lineup, player assessment, post-game audio (Coach Vincent, Jansen Harkins and Brenden Kichton).

Illegal Curve:  Catching up with Jansen Harkins & Michael Spacek.  Following their signing yesterday morning I caught up with the two prospects.
