Note:  Well that was a slightly busy trade deadline day on Wednesday. It began with Patrik Laine getting the NHL rookie of the month, the Jets then hit the ice for a practice which eventually culminated with the Drew Stafford trade.   Today the team returns to normal with an 11 AM practice at the MTS Centre.  Update:  The Jets made a change to the 4th line today and you can hear from Trouba, Dano, Pavelec and coach.

Note II:  The Moose, who had Julian Melchiori re-assigned to them yesterday, will hit the ice in Rockford at 1 PM for a practice at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets’ Trouba served two-game penalty in slow motion.  (Paywall).  Fairly certain fans around Manitoba felt the same way as they couldn’t wait to see him return to the lineup.

Winnipeg Free Press:  NHL trade speculation over… how ’bout a rant? (Paywall).  Former NHLer turned writer Scott Campbell gives a good old fashioned post Trade Deadline rant.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets desperately need hot goaltender.  That headline could have been written any time over the past few months.  Ted with more on the topic of goalies from the MTS Centre today.

Winnipeg Sun:  Hellebuyck getting better at dealing with ups and downs.  Lost in all the furor over trade deadline day was an interesting chat that the Jets netminder had with some scribes in his corner of the Jets room.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets GM addresses state of the team.  If you cannot listen to the audio (below) Paul breaks down some of the key points from yesterday’s chat.

Winnipeg Sun:  Pending UFA Stafford not surprised to be dealt by Jets.  While many around here weren’t surprised to see the Wisconsin native get traded it was a deal that came together rather late in the day.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets coach stands by decision to stick with young Hellebuyck.  (Paywall).  It was an informative chat with the young goalie.  The team remains steadfast in their support of him.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Dear Paul, we’re sorry… hopefully this raise will dull the pain; your pal, Kevin.  (Paywall).  It seems like the team would like to get something done with the second coach for this franchise since they moved to Winnipeg from Atlanta.

Sportsnet:  Jets still stuck in mushy middle after another dull deadline.  Is the author of this article right?  Did the Jets miss out by not being more bold yesterday or did they simply stick to a blueprint that they designed?

Metro Winnipeg:  It’s not playoff time, it’s next-year time for the Winnipeg JetsIs it time to stick a fork in it?  Is it done?  Well there is technically a small chance but Hustler writer that it is time to be a little more realistic and switch the focus to next season.

TSN:  Potential exposed players in the expansion draft – Western Canadian teams.  (Video).  With the Vegas Golden Knights able to make moves as of Wednesday, Frank Seravalli projects which players the Western Conference Canadian teams will make available in the expansion draft.
