Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets and Moose news.

Note:  The Jets are up against the Bruins tonight in Boston with a 6 pm puck drop.   Stick with illegalcurve.com for the latest news and on social media including Twitter|Facebook |Instagram for all the pre and post game news.

Note II:  Following last night’s 5-2 loss against the Roadrunners, the Moose will look to end the road trip in style with their final game of this five game trip tonight in Tucson at 8:05 pm CT.

Note III:  Tune into three hours of NHL and Winnipeg Jets hockey talk as we kick off the Illegal Curve Hockey Show at 9 am on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.  Guests:  Jack Edwards (Bruins Play by Play broadcaster), Mike McIntyre (Winnipeg Free Press), Craig Button (TSN) and John Forslund (Hurricanes Play by Play broadcaster).

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Hellebuyck just ‘moving forward’.  (Paywall).  He was still burning the day after.  The question is will he use that fire to ignite his next opportunity in net?

Winnipeg Free Press:  Nobody does it alone: Thorburn on 700 games.  (Paywall).  It was a somber and reflective Chris Thorburn when he chatted about hitting this milestone.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Young guns draw media focus on road.  (Paywall).  As someone who is either in the scrums or listens to them you can sense a pattern when the Jets are in a different town (or when visiting media comes to town).

Winnipeg Sun:  Enstrom talks softly, carries big stick.  Ken had the rare opportunity to go one on one with the Swedish defender.

Winnipeg Sun:  Hellebuyck hard on himself.  He is a pretty even keel kid but I’m not surprised he is still sore about that game in Philadelphia.  Can he turn it into motivation?  We shall soon see.

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to Jets vs. Bruins.  Ken’s keys include: 1) Turning the page. 2) Byfuglien ready to take off? 3) 3) Turn up the power. 4) Tuuka time. 5) Keeping Marchand in check. And Ken’s extra bonus Nikolaj Ehlers vs Brandon Carlo.

Illegal Curve:  Jets Practice Report.  Only some of the extras hit the ice today with coach Maurice opting for off ice meetings.  Audio from Connor Hellebuyck, Chris Thorburn and Josh Morrissey.

Illegal Curve:  Patrik Laine’s first 12 goals for the Winnipeg Jets.  (Video).  He already has 12 impressive goals this season.  Watch him score each one.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Donvito Roundtable.  Tim Campbell of NHL.com joins Rick Ralph and discusses Mark Scheifele’s maturation from Winnipeg Jets draft pick to NHL’s leading scorer.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice.   On the decision to cancel practice.  Assessments the day after that loss.  How does he balance in throwing a guy back into goal vs. giving him a chance to sit one.  On supporting Hellebuyck.  Chris Thorburn hitting 700 games.  What does it say about him that he’s been able to stick in today’s NHL?  How does today’s change in plans impact Stafford’s availability?  His thoughts on the Bruins.  Does he have to tell anyone “not to go” for a skate today?  None of the power play goals on the road, is that an anomaly?
