Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets are back in Winnipeg following last night’s loss in Minnesota.  The team is scheduled to practice today at 12 noon as they get ready for a big week which will conclude with the Heritage Classic.

Note II:  The Moose split their season opening series with the Iowa Wild, dropping yesterday’s game in a shootout.  The team has the day off before they get back into it on Monday as they get ready for their home opener on Tuesday against Bakersfield.

Jets news:

Ottawa Sun:  Garrioch’s Sunday Column.  Jacob Trouba is front and centre in his Sunday column and Garricoh writes about Trouba needing to be patient with his situation.

Winnipeg Sun:  Wild shut down Jets with stifling defence.  The final minute of the 1st period looked as if the Jets were going to be able to somehow sneak out of Minnesota with a couple of points but that was quickly abandoned when the Wild took over the 2nd period and shut things down for most of the 3rd.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets, Wild turn up heat early in the season.  (Paywall).  Pretty clear that there is plenty of hate between Friendly Manitoba and Minnesota Nice along the I94-E corridor.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Outshot, out-hit, out-skated.  (Paywall).  It was not a testament to how you want to play a road contest.

Twin Cities Pioneer Press:  Bruce Boudreau’s ‘choice words’ between periods ignite Wild to a 4-3 win.  Oh to be a fly on the wall for one of these famous NHL coach tongue lashings.

Illegal Curve:  Jacob Trouba situation stagnant.  The Jets RFA was the subject of conversation during the 2nd intermission on CBC.

Illegal Curve:  Might the L.A. Kings have an interest in Ondrej Pavelec?  Assertion is that the Kings may have interest in the current Moose goalie.

The Hockey News:  Rumor Roundup.  Touch quickly on how Bruins had an interest in Trouba but the interesting note was the Stars/Jets goalie talk.

Wild 4 Jets 3:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice post-game.  On not being able to generate shots.  Young guys take that as a learning lesson.  Getting the power play working.  Why the drop off in the second period?  What did he think of Hutchinson in net?

Moose news:

Manitoba official site:  Iowa wins in shootout.  In case you’re wondering how the Jets AHL affiliate did yesterday here is a recap.
