Note II:   The Moose will have their final practice in Winnipeg of the week as they get ready to head south to North Dakota for a pair of games over the weekend against the Iowa Wild.  They will be on the ice at the IcePlex at 11 am.

Afternoon Jets news:

Sportsnet:  Jets can’t afford to let Jacob Trouba push them around.  It was an interesting game of chicken played between the two sides in silence and it will be interesting to see what happens as we get closer and closer to that December 1st deadline.

Winnipeg Sun:  Nine forwards competing for two spots on Jets.  I broke out my abacus and the numbers don’t look very good for seven of those guys.  However it does translate well for fans who want to see the most competitive roster that this team has had to kick off an NHL season since the team came to Winnipeg in 2011-12.

Winnipeg Sun:  Laine adjusting to NHL life.  One could almost say he’s learning to live life in the fast laine….that’s right.  I went there.

Afternoon Jets audio:

Sportsnet Fan 590:   What Jets fans can expect from Laine this seasonJeff Marek spoke with Uffe Bodin about Patrik Laine and how Uffe thought he fared at the World Cup and what to expect this season.

Jets news:

TSN:  Top 50 NHL playersJets have two crack the list (#36 and #50) and both wear letters on their jerseys.

ESPN:  Fantasy Hockey primer – central divisionFor those of you who participate in fantasy hockey check out what they have to say about the Jets as well as their central division rivals.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets fall flat vs. Oilers.  Ken was in Edmonton last night and breaks down the Jets loss to the Oilers.

Winnipeg Sun:  Morrissey trying not to over-think it.  A real opportunity has presented itself to the 2013 1st round pick.

Winnipeg Sun:  Battle for spots on Jets roster heating up.  As we are less than one week away from the regular season kicking off it will be interesting to see how soon the next round of cuts begins.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Power play fizzles, McDavid sizzles.  (Paywall).  If you don’t win the Stanley Cup finals as a result of a good pre-season game or two, I guess similarly you don’t fail to make the post-season because you lose a game or two.

Edmonton Journal:  Connor McDavid scores twice as Oilers down Jets 5-2.  Read about last night’s game from an Oilers beat writer’s perspective.

Sportsnet:  Ranking the top 20 defencemen in the NHL, by the numbersYou won’t have to scroll down far to find which Jets defenceman cracked the list.

Sportsnet:  15 most anticipated games of the season.  Jets are on the list twice.  Right call?

NBC Sports:  The Jets goaltending situation still seems like kind of a messYesterday’s audio with the Jets bench boss (which you can hear here) doesn’t really bring any more clarity as coach Maurice continues to hold his goaltending cards close to his vest (provided he wears a vest).

Oilers 5 Jets 2:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice post-game scrum.  Includes a Third period breakdown.  Did they have the advantage?  Any reason why?  Getting started for regular season.  More clarity for the last few spots.  On Tanev’s play.  Thoughts on McDavid.  What does he say to Hellebuyck after that one?  Assessing Patrik Laine’s camp.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Jets Lunch.  TSN Jets analyst Shane Hnidy joined the show to discuss the progress of Josh Morrissey and whether or not he’s shown enough in camp to crack the opening night roster.
